those tracks were made during the last 3 years, during the development of Piccolo, a sequencer/midi player built from scratch.
i have been improvising pieces or sometimes deconstructing MIDI files, regularly hitting the REC button when something sounded good enough. the de-struction of MIDI files happens at the very basic level, on how the sequencer mis-reads the files, on purpose.
out of the hundreds of hours of archives, i have selected fragments which, although still basically patchy lo-fi debugging experiments also have a special quality which says something pleasurable about that whole process. please note that all has been recorded as it is, with no overdub or possibility to mix separate parts. edits have been realized in some points for convenience, but i didnt try to hide glitches, on the contrary.
some tracks on this particular compilation were done when trying to debug adaptations of classical techniques of canon and barocco arpegiation. i also used some automated control of a reverb unit and of the classical TX81Z FM synthesis.
some are improvisations, some are renditions of compositions by more or less significant others. sometimes the lines are blurred. sometimes i forgot if it was based on an existing track. such is my memory. i like that state between recognizable and unknown.

for MIDI deconstructions i used my alter ego [0x4d546864], but it doesnt really matter.
